About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Behavioral Health team in providing exceptional care to patients with mental health and behavioral challenges. The ideal candidate will bring strong clinical skills empathy and a passion for helping individuals on their journey to recovery and wellness.
As a member of our multidisciplinary care team you will play a key role in assessing planning implementing and evaluating individualized patient care plans in a hospital-based behavioral health setting.
Responsibilities

Provide direct nursing care to patients with psychiatric emotional or behavioral disorders.

Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments and develop individualized treatment plans.

Administer medications safely and monitor effects and side effects.

Collaborate with psychiatrists therapists social workers and other healthcare professionals to ensure holistic care.

Monitor patients progress respond to behavioral crises and intervene appropriately.

Educate patients and families about diagnoses treatment options and medication management.

Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with hospital and regulatory standards.

Promote a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and staff.
Qualifications
-
Active RN license in the state of New Jersey (or ability to obtain prior to start).

Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Minimum 1 year of experience in behavioral health psychiatric or mental health nursing (hospital or inpatient setting preferred).

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) or equivalent certification preferred (can be obtained after hire).

Strong communication critical thinking and de-escalation skills.

Compassionate patient-focused and team-oriented mindset.
Preferred Skills

Experience working in acute psychiatric units detox facilities or behavioral health hospitals.

Knowledge of DSM-5 diagnostic criteria and trauma-informed care practices.

Familiarity with EMR systems and mental health documentation standards.
