Job Summary
Assistant Technician
Join our dynamic team at Marriottsville Animal Hospital an AAHA-accredited companion animal veterinary practice located in beautiful Howard County Maryland. We are not your average veterinary clinic. We are seeking a dedicated and motivated Assistant Technician to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in veterinary care strong technical skills and a commitment to providing compassionate high-quality care in a fast-paced environment.
This role supports our veterinarians and licensed technicians with daily patient care diagnostics treatments and client communication.
Duties
- Assist veterinarians and technicians during examinations treatments and surgical procedures
- Perform animal handling and restraint for exams diagnostics and medical care
- Prepare exam rooms treatment areas and equipment
- Collect samples (fecal urine ear swabs blood if trained)
- Run or assist with basic diagnostics (fecal SNAP tests urinalysis etc.)
- Perform nail trims anal gland expressions and other approved patient care tasks
- Maintain cleanliness sanitation and organization throughout the clinic
- Assist with inventory restocking and preparing supplies
- Communicate with pet owners about treatment plans discharge instructions and medication administration
- Support front desk tasks as needed (phone calls scheduling payments) to ensure smooth clinic flow
Requirements
- Previous experience in a veterinary clinic or assistant/technician role strongly preferred
- Knowledge of basic veterinary terminology
- Competence in handling and restraining animals safely and compassionately
- Familiarity with basic diagnostics and patient care tasks
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask in a busy team-oriented environment
- Reliable detail-oriented and committed to excellent patient care
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for extended periods
- Comfort using computer systems multi-line phones and office equipment
Pay & Benefits
Pay: $17-$20 per hour based on experience and skill level
