Controller -Elmwood Park NJ
FinTrust Connect has partnered with a well-established community bank in northern New Jersey that is seeking an experienced Controller to lead its accounting department. Requirements:
- 8 years of progressive accounting experience preferably in community banking
- CPA preferred
- Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field
- In-depth knowledge of GAAP and banking regulatory requirements (including call reports)
- Experience with CECL reporting and internal controls
- Proficiency with financial systems and Microsoft Excel
Description:
- Prepare monthly quarterly and annual financial statements (balance sheet income and cash flow)
- Oversee CECL preparation reporting and analysis
- Manage the full accounting cycle and monthly close process including reconciliations and accruals
- Ensure accuracy and timely filing of regulatory reports including call reports
- Maintain strong internal controls to manage risk and ensure compliance
- Lead coach and develop accounting staff
- Manage the operating budget process and monitor variances throughout the year
- Collaborate closely with executive leadership to support strategic planning
