Fleet Maintenance Coordinator Part Time

Position Summary:
This is a safety-sensitive position in the Public Works Department functioning as a provider of services in performing a variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks in the maintenance and repair of the Citys Fleet. When assigned by the Facility and Fleet Manager the individual in this position will also assist other maintenance sections of the Public Works Department. Following standard operating procedures Fleet Maintenance Coordinator assists in administrating and coordinating motor vehicle fleet operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Understands OSHA DOT fleet-specific regulations licensing registration and reporting requirements. Prepares and maintains accurate records of vehicles insurance and required regulatory filings and reporting.
- Coordinates repairs and preventative maintenance scheduling that support fleet vehicle availability requirements.
- Assists with safety training and communication programs as needed.
- Fleet Maintenance Coordinator is a position that will act as lead with fleet operations and repairs as needed and requested by the Facility and Fleet Manager.
- Monitors supply inventories and will replenish stock to maintain adequate levels to meet operational needs.
- Conducts preventative maintenance inspections and performs routine maintenance of City fleet vehicles.
- Investigates and responds to complaints regarding vehicle fleet issues and repairs.
- Maintains a record of daily work events through the work order and asset management system.
- Coordinates emergency and after-hours repair operations.
- Provides Facility and Fleet Manager with status reports on projects and tasks assigned.
- Maintains and services assigned fleet vehicles.
- Performs minor mechanical adjustments and repairs on related vehicles such as checking/servicing fuel oil and coolant levels tire pressure and general appearance.
- Maintains fleet vehicles to meet operating standards.
- Prepares and maintains usage records.
- Ensures compliance with all organizational values policies procedures and all verbal and written instructions.
- Other duties as assigned.
Organizational Relationships:
Reports to: Facilities and Fleet Manager
- Interacts with City employees community partners visitors and vendors.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of tools techniques and best practices used in performing fleet maintenance functions and applicable safety procedures.
- Knowledge of complex vehicle operation systems.
- Ability to communicate effectively and timely including responding appropriately to complaints.
- Ability to troubleshoot many types of vehicle systems.
- Ability to read understand analyze and interpret a variety of reference materials furnished in written oral diagram or schedule form including manuals technical documentation legal documents and user guides.
- Ability to complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to lift carry push and/or pull items weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to perform activities that require considerable muscular exertion and/or physical strain as well as continuous mental and/or visual demand where duties are potentially hazardous and require continuous alertness and/or activity.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision color vision and ability to adjust focus.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word Excel Outlook and PowerPoint) skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate and interact with all levels of personnel and visitors of the City of Lone Tree.
- Must have the ability to operate a variety of standard office equipment e.g. copier fax machine and personal computer.
- Demonstrated personal effectiveness credibility thoroughness flexibility and collaboration skills in adhering to and advancing the Citys vision mission and values and ethical standards.
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Valid Colorado Drivers License (Class R) and a good driving history required.
- 3-5 years of fleet maintenance experience or substantially equivalent positions with other public agencies or private contractors.
- Must satisfactorily complete a criminal background check drug screen and driving record check prior to commencing employment.
- Must be able to obtain CJIS Certification.
Equipment Used Work Environment and Physical Activities (This is a general list and may not apply to all positions):
- Driving: Must be physically capable of operating motor vehicles safely in the normal course of assignments.
- Office equipment: Daily use of a copier scanner and printer.
- Computer equipment: Daily use of a personal computer and MS Office software.
- Other equipment: Periodic use of large format printers and copiers.
- Reasoning ability: Defines problems collects data establishes facts and draws valid conclusions using a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
Physical Demands: Sits for long periods of time; may walk stand bend stoop reach climb carry and lift for varying periods. Requires continuous and repetitive arm-hand-eye movement.
- Lifting: May involve lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs. for short periods of time.
- Vision and hearing: Must have visual acuity to see and read paper and electronic documents; must be able to answer telephones communicate conversation and respond to verbal inquiries.
Exposure to environmental conditions: Ability to drive to and physically access all work sites in the office and outdoors to perform duties potentially in any weather and environmental conditions including possible exposure to extreme weather conditions dust dirt heat cold fumes gases odors noise water elements and humidity.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a non-exempt part-time position working on average 20 hours per week. This position schedule will be Monday Friday.
Position Range:
$25.34 - $36.45 Hourly
