Job Summary

  • Acquaint new students with center systems behavioral standards benefits rules and procedures to enable them to participate successfully in the program.
  • Offer instruction in Career Preparation to include safety security systems Job Corps history diversity technology internet job search skills resume writing email use workers rights and responsibilities job retention customer service conflict resolution and drivers education.
  • Monitor encourage support and enforce center attendance rules.
  • Provide each student with an introduction to all eight Career Success Standards and an overview of the behavioral expectations of the center.
  • Inform all new students that they will be formally evaluated at least every 60 days on their knowledge of and ability to demonstrate all eight Career Success Standards.
  • Assist in the development and distribution to all students a Student Handbook that
  • accurately reflects current center behavioral expectations benefits policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate assessments of students prior academic achievement skill level needs and interests so that appropriate individualized career development services may be provided and help identify students personal issues so that appropriate support can be provided early in enrollment.
  • Develop and offer a variety of career exploration activities designed to provide information and practical experiences that assist students in understanding various factors to consider when making a career choice and setting career goals.
  • Provide an overview of center career technical offerings in each area in which the student expresses an interest.
  • Schedule and conduct visits to the nearest One-Stop Career Center to acquaint students with career exploration training job placement and other services and resources available to them.
  • Collaborate with each student and counselor to initiate a Personal Career Development Plan (PCDP) which shall document the students personal career goals training needs challenges and progress and accomplishments throughout enrollment and the post-center Career Transition Period.
  • Participate actively in Career Management Team (CMT) panels when students are being recommended for transition into CPD and CTR/CTS. Ensure PCDPs are updated resumes are uploaded transitional needs assessment are completed and referrals made and ensure students job search strategies are recorded on PCDPs.
  • Assist students in assessing their readiness for career transition and prepare students to effectively access resources and services that will assist them in making a successful transition to the workforce or postsecondary education.
  • Schedule and conduct monthly Career Transition Readiness Seminars in each classroom in order to ensure students are fully prepared to conduct a successful job search leading to employment join the Armed Forces enroll in postsecondary education; or enter an apprenticeship program.
  • Collaborate with each student to update Their Personal Career Development Plan using it to develop an employment plan or personalized job search strategy or plan for advanced education including identification of federal funding options as appropriate.
  • Assist students in assembling documents necessary for obtaining employment including originals of personal documents and those credentials that document the students accomplishments into a portfolio.
  • Provide job development referral and placement services to graduates and FEs as appropriate. Work toward attainment of company pre-separation placement goals by working with CTS and CTT staff to initiate or support pre-graduation job search efforts.
  • Connect graduates and former enrollees with career transition resources appropriate to their needs to include a personal connection between the potential graduate and the career transition services provider.
  • Conduct and document a transitional needs assessment in the students PCDP which shall include resources to meet transitional support needs.
  • Conduct and document post center placement and follow-up throughout the students service period after separation.
  • Ensures the safety health and security of students staff and property.
  • Serves as a member of committees to review policies and procedures relating to the counseling program and the Centers operation as directed.
  • Transports students to and from bus stations and other scheduled appointments when necessary.
  • Works toward meeting performance management goals.
  • Follows CDSS plan and Standards of Conduct system.
  • Maintains good housekeeping in all areas and complies with safety practices.
  • Complies with all DOL guidelines OFCCP regulations Job Corps notices and bulletins and Center policies and procedures.
  • Models mentors monitors appropriate Career Success Standards.
  • Helps students become more employable through continuous reinforcement.
  • Participates in PRH mandated staff training. Failure to participate may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination.
  • Performs other duties as assigned within the individuals scope and capabilities.
Requirements
  • Associates Degree required Bachelors degree preferred. One-year teaching experience and valid state drivers license.
