Description of Work

The NC Department of Adult Correction continuously recruits for Licensed Practical Nurse positions and will accept applications regardless of whether there is a current vacancy. Employees in this class participate in nursing assessments provide personal care of patients/inmates take routine vital signs feed patients monitor intake and output collect specimens change aseptic dressings deliver routine respiratory therapy and other treatments catheter and colostomy care stock supplies admit patients give routine medications and assist the Registered Nurse and Physician as needed.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

LPN - ELIGIBLE FOR A $3000 SIGN-ON BONUS.

To be eligible for a sign-on bonus the candidate must not have worked as a probationary permanent or time-limited employee under the State Human Resources Act in the last 12 months.

Salary Range: 39864 - 59797

This Licensed Practical Nurse position provide routine care and treatment of patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse within a state correctional facility. It also will be providing direct nursing care to patients within the scope of practice.

Responsibilities to include but not limited to the following duties:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of professional nursing and skills attendant to its practice
  • Screening observing and assessing patients
  • Providing basic wound care and personal care to patients
  • Delivering routine respiratory therapy and other treatments catheter and colostomy care collecting vital signs and specimens preparing and administering medications administering/interpreting TB skin tests
  • Observing and recording pertinent patient information
  • Responding to emergencies
  • Assisting the Registered Nurse and Physician

**This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) withState Benefits.
