Job Profile Summary
The Clinical Coordinator uses advanced nursing processes in decision-making patient assessment data analysis development and implementation of methods and systems to improve the overall quality and efficiency of patient care for the designated department and population served. Provides direct and indirect patient care as needed; oversees the delivery of patient care; and provides day to day management of programs to coordinate patient care as designated by the department. Coordinates the delivery of safe high quality patient care; identifies areas for study; and participates in and/or supports research. Works in compliance with all State Federal and other regulatory requirements. Serves as a resource and mentor to staff and team members.

Interventional Radiology Drain Nurse Onsite Role

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Interventional Radiology team specializing in the management of patients with chronic and acute drains and/or tubes. This is a fully onsite position based at the Carilion Roanoke campus including Roanoke Memorial Hospital (RMH) the IR Clinic at Crystal Springs and occasionally Carilion Roanoke Community Hospital.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert clinical coordination and daily assessment for both inpatient and outpatient populations with devices such as:
    • Multipurpose drains (e.g. pigtail catheters with bulb suction or drainage bags)
    • Enteral feeding tubes (G-tubes GJ-tubes)
    • Cholecystostomy tubes
    • Suprapubic catheters
    • Tunneled drainage catheters
  • Deliver patient education and ensure appropriate follow-up care to promote safe and effective recovery.
  • Serve as a liaison between patients families caregivers and the broader healthcare team including physicians scheduling staff and other clinical personnel.
  • Coordinate care plans and facilitate communication to ensure seamless transitions and continuity of care.
  • Monitor device function troubleshoot issues and escalate concerns to providers as needed.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced clinical environment.

What We Require:

Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required. Bachelors degree Preferred.

Experience: Three years of RN experience required. At least 2 years of experience in relevant specialty or department as defined by the department desired. (ex: hospital setting vascular rehab long term care home health cardiology ambulatory surgery)

Licensure certification and/or registration: Current VA RN license required.

Must obtain & maintain appropriate certifications as defined by the department: ACLS Conscious Sedation CCRN ONC Pain Management and other modality specific certifications (ex. cardiology surgery orthopedics vascular) preferred.

Valid Drivers license required for employees working in Home Health or departments where the work requires travel.

Life Support: AHA BLS-HCP required within 1 year of hire.

Other Minimum Qualifications: Effective interpersonal communication and team-working skills required. Strong critical thinking conflict resolution organization and effective judgement abilities required. Must successfully complete orientation and competency validation requirements. Must be able to meet essential job functions. Designated areas may require Knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid and other third-party payor regulations.
