2 Months Contract with a Local Authority
Job Purpose
- To deliver and develop youth work sessions as part of the Young Universal Safe Spaces offer across the borough. The role aims to provide safe inclusive environments for young people aged 1119 (up to 25 for those with SEND) supporting their personal social emotional and educational development while reducing risks of violence vulnerability and exploitation.
Key Duties/Accountabilities
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with young people accessing safe spaces.
- Engage young people through one-to-one and group activities to support holistic development.
- Promote understanding of risk and empower young people to make positive choices.
- Signpost and refer young people to universal targeted and specialist services as needed.
- Plan deliver and evaluate youth work sessions including centre-based off-site and residential activities.
- Support co-production by involving young people in shaping services.
- Ensure inclusive practice that celebrates diversity and promotes equality.
- Maintain safe environments using restorative approaches where appropriate.
Essential Experience Required
- Experience engaging young people individually and in groups building rapport and positive relationships.
- Ability to respond appropriately to challenging behaviours and maintain safe environments.
Essential Qualifications Required
- Recognised Level 2 Youth Work Qualification (or willingness to achieve during probation).
- Understanding of youth work principles equal opportunities and anti-discriminatory practice.
Additional Information to Note
- Working hours: 18 hours per week
- face to face 5 days a week mostly evening work
- Enhanced DBS required.
The role closes on 13th January 2026 apply ASAP.
