Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & General Ledger: Manage the full accounting cycle for multiple entities (MGA & HIPPO) including GL maintenance monthly/quarterly balance sheet reconciliation and journal entries. Prepare and upload PnL/BS data via Tagetik and produce monthly management reports with commentary for the CFO.
Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts. Perform rigorous budget vs. actual analysis investigating variances to provide actionable insights for business decisions.
Tax & Statutory Compliance: Ensure full adherence to Mauritian tax laws. Handle monthly and annual filings (PAYE CGS TDS PRGF APS) via the MRA website and manage transfer pricing regulations in consultation with tax specialists.
Cash Management & Payroll: Monitor cash balances and liquidity oversee subsidiary funding and draft inter-company loan agreements. Process monthly payroll (via Xero) and ensure accurate statutory deductions and tax calculations.
Audit & Internal Controls: Act as the primary liaison for internal and external audits. Implement robust financial controls raise intercompany accruals and continuously identify opportunities to enhance process efficiency and data integrity.
Qualifications & Experience:
Education: Minimum BCom in Accounting or Finance. A professional designation (CPA CA(SA) or ACCA) is a distinct advantage.
Experience: At least 5 years of accounting experience in a similar role.
Technical Knowledge: Solid understanding of GAAP/IFRS principles with experience using accounting software.
Skills & Competencies:
Analysis & Strategy: Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data identify trends and make strategic recommendations. Experience in financial modelling is highly advantageous.
Technical Proficiency: High level of computer literacy specifically with Excel and data tools.
Communication: Excellent written and oral communication skills with a focus on providing sound advice to internal stakeholders.
