It is responsible for ensuring the health safety and well-being of all North Carolinians providing human service needs for special populations including individuals who are deaf blind developmentally disabled and mentally ill and helping poor North Carolinians achieve economic independence.
Description of Work
The Occupational Therapist will be responsible for provision of Occupational Therapy (OT) services for infants toddlers and their families enrolled in the North Carolina Infant Toddler Program (N.C. ITP) and is necessary to ensure provision of OT services as mandated by Part C of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and in compliance with all federally regulated timelines. Failure to fill this position will result in a lack of adequate OT service availability for children and families entitled to receive this service through the N.C. ITP under IDEA. Additionally this position will be responsible for completing eligibility determination evaluations as part of a multidisciplinary team for children referred to the N.C. ITP program; failure to fill this position could also impact timely completion of eligibility evaluations in compliance with federal regulations and state and program policies and procedures.Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Ability to interpret evaluation and assessment results and facilitates understanding of how the childs current skills and abilities may impact daily routines and activities and to assist the family in developing outcomes to be incorporated into the Individual Family Services Plan (IFSP)
Ability to complete evaluations and assessments through standardized and/or formal testing procedures and behavioral assessments and to design and implement a treatment program specific to the findings that will improve functioning per the childs IFSP outcomes
Ability to integrate the family into the intervention process and provide coaching on how the parent or other caregiver can facilitate and support skill development on an ongoing basis using the childs every day routines
Ability to work effectively with patients patients families medical personnel and other CDSA staff members and to deal professionally and tactfully with the public
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to drive and travel by car across the CDSAs catchment area.
Light work with some physical lifting. This work also requires the ability to participate in activities developmentally appropriate to infants and toddlers. Physical effort also occurs when driving a car or attending a home visit

Veterans and National Guard Preference
