Description of Work
The primary purpose of this position is to evaluate residents through comprehensive individualized and discipline-specific assessments. The Creative/Expressive Arts Therapist will develop and implement therapeutic programs techniques and interventions that utilize the four core expressive modalitiesmovement drama visual arts and musicto enhance residents overall quality of life.This role involves facilitating both individual and group therapy sessions tailored to meet the emotional cognitive and psychosocial needs of residents. The therapist will collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team presenting assessment findings and progress reports to support the development and execution of effective care plans.

Recruitment Range: $41857.00 - $62786.00

Black Mountain Neuro-Medical Treatment Center is one of three state operated facilities serving adults with chronic and complex medical conditions that co-exist with neurodevelopmental or neurocognitive disorders often related to a diagnosis of severe and persistent mental illness or intellectual disability. The health and physical status of these residents require 24-hour supervision daily nursing care and assistance with activities of daily living.

Minimum Education and Experience
Some state job postings say you can qualify by an equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelors degree in music therapy which includes a six-month internship from an appropriately accredited institution;
or
Bachelors degree in music or music education with an equivalency in music therapy which includes a six-month internship from an appropriately accredited institution;
or
Bachelors degree in one of the creative/expressive arts areas (art dance drama music) from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience in all phases of therapeutic programming; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Administering the class: if the creative/expressive arts degree program has a therapeutic equivalency or emphasis the experience requirements will be waived.
