The NC Department of Administration is the business manager for North Carolina state government. The department oversees Government Operations such as building construction purchasing and contracting for goods and services maintaining facilities managing state vehicles acquiring and disposing of real property and operating auxiliary services such as courier mail delivery and the sale of state and federal surplus property. Additionally the department manages many of the states advocacy programs that provide assistance and services to diverse segments of the states population that have been traditionally underserved.

Job Duties:
The intern will be part of the public relations team responsible for promoting the largest event in the state that draws in 1 million annually. The intern will write news releases speeches and blogs and will coordinate the purchase of advertising in high school newspapers sports programs and school-related outlets.
Major Task to be Performed: Will work within a budget to advertise State Fair with high school students. Other duties include press releases blogs speeches research event organization and assisting with social media content.
Final Product or Outcome Anticipated: Intern will create real-world portfolio pieces and gain hands-on experience as part of a Public Relations team. Intern would be involved in all aspects of planning and promoting the N.C. State Fair.
Academic Majors Desired: Public Relations Communications Journalism
2026 State of North Carolina Internship Period: Monday May 18 Friday July 24 2026
Candidate would have strong writing skills and knowledge of AP style. Intern will needstrong organizational skills to keep projects on time and organized. Intern should enjoy working with a team.
This position will close at 11:59 p.m. the night before the end date.
