Description of Work

The primary responsibility of the Registered Nurse is to provide a safe environment and treatment based on Professional Standards of Nursing Care in conjunction with the Medical Staff. The Registered Nurse functions as a member of an interdisciplinary treatment team whose responsibility is to facilitate the bio-psycho-social rehabilitation and/or safe detoxification of the patient utilizing the nursing process; i.e. observation evaluation planning through identification of treatment needs implementation of intervention and evaluation of efficacy and meeting the patients needs as they change. Registered Nurses also facilitate educational/supportive groups deliver lectures provide individual education counseling related to preventative health medical status and/or medication usage and facilitate direct interventions in
crisis situations.

*A Sign-on bonus of $10000 may be offered to the successful applicant(s) of this posting contingent on the 2025-2026 Budget Approval.

This Position Is Exempt And Is EXEMPT From Certain Provisions Of The State Human Resources Act (GS 126) Candidates will be considered while completing licensure requirements. Licensure must be obtained prior to beginning employment.


This Position Is Designated As Mandatory And Must Report Or Stay Over During Adverse Weather Events.


We Will Be Recruiting For Multiple Positions With This Post. Your Application Will Be Considered For All Noted Open Positions.


We are currently recruiting for 12-hour Day shifts and 12-hour Night shifts. Some holidays weekends overtime and flexibility required.


Hours are primarily 6:45am - 7:15pm or 6:45pm - 7:15am with an 8-hour shift scheduled every other week for full-time (40 hour) staff.

JFK ADATC offers a part-time option (36 hour) with prorated salary and benefits.

Shift Premiums:

  • Nights: 20%

  • Weekends: 10%

  • Evenings: 15%

  • Holiday Premium: 50%

*Eligibility for Sign-on Bonus
To qualify for the Sign-on Bonus a newly hired permanent full-time or permanent part-time employee must work 30 to 40 hours per week to be eligible. Those who are eligible and working less than 40 hours a week will receive a prorated rate.


An employee is not eligible for a sign-on bonus if:

  • The employee has held a position in the North Carolina State government including the judicial system or the University of North Carolina system within the last 12 months (the employee shall remain ineligible for 12 months from the separation date)

  • The employee has previously received a sign-on bonus from any State agency

  • DHHS has paid any contract placement or recruitment fees.

About the Facility:
JFK is a 68-bed inpatient treatment facility designed to meet the needs of adults with substance use disorders from the 44 westernmost counties in North Carolina. The facility treats individuals with substance abuse and psychiatric diagnoses. JFK is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations as a Behavioral Health facility and certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services as an inpatient psychiatric hospital.
