The Interventional Radiology Nurse

• Assesses plans implements and evaluates patient care in order to achieve optimum patient outcomes for patients of all ages as appropriate to service area.

• Completes focused assessments of patients undergoing procedures and/or sedation of all ages in a timely manner.

• Responds to patient care needs before during and after procedures including assessment of condition cardiac arrest and intravenous problems.

• Performs preexamination and post examination assessments for angiography CT scan and other special procedures.

• Collaborates with members of the health care team/patient/family to develop implement and evaluate an age-specific interdisciplinary plan of care.

• Follows established standards and practice under the direction of a credentialed radiologist credentialed invasive cardiologist or credentialed intravascular surgeon.

• Administers treatments and medications for patients of all ages and documented utilizing automated computer systems including electronic medical records.

• Patient/family (caregiver) educational needs are identified in a timely manner incorporated into the plan of care implemented and documented appropriately.

• Determines and performs within clinical leadership and/or education pathways to support (direct/indirect) evidenced based quality patient care service and performance improvement.

• Plans strategies to reduce length of stay turnaround time resource consumption and improve patient outcomes.

• Organizes and prioritizes tasks. Demonstrates flexibility with scheduling; able to prioritize competing needs.

• Completes manager/director predetermined projects within specified time frame and according to pre-established guidelines.

• Orients new employees as needed.

• Provides feedback to staff using appropriate communication and documentation.

• Provides input into practice environment and work issues by participating on unit hospital and/or system activities which facilitates staff participation/input in decision making.

• Assists with providing education activities for unit/department.

What We Require:

Education: Graduate of school of professional nursing. BSN preferred.

Experience: none

Licensure/Certification: Currently licensed as Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia. AHA ACLS PALS and AHA BLS-HCP required.

Other minimum qualifications: Keyboarding skills and computer literacy required for automated computer systems including electronic medical records.
