OperationsJob Responsibilities:
1. Effectively staff manage and develop exempt and hourly employees within the ammonia production department consisting of 4 production superintendents 16 shift-supervisors 150 operators and a training supervisor.
2. Set departmental expectations for excellence in safety and environmental performance and maintain overall responsibility for the effectiveness of these efforts.
3. Collaborate with key business stakeholders such as maintenance engineering environmental safety and product handling departments to identify opportunities to optimize and improve operational performance.
4. Develop the annual ammonia production budget compare performance to existing metrics and ensure effective management of controllable costs and production.
5. Establish the ammonia plant turnaround schedule to ensure it aligns with the capital budget forecast and supports the corporate business plan and sales objectives.
6. Participates as an effective member of the incident management team capable of executing the role of company spokesman and incident management team leader.
7. Manages complex-wide natural gas while coordinating daily/monthly gas usage and supply with the various gas suppliers and the corporate raw materials group.
8. Manages site CO2 nominations and transfers with offtake partner and in coordination with the clean energy team.
9. Effectively manages and coordinates onsite ammonia inventory in conjunction with the product handling group to ensure adequate supply for the urea and UAN plants as well as merchant ammonia sales.
10. Coordinates electricity transactions and notifications associated with the cogeneration unity in ammonia 6.
11. Covers and acts on behalf of the operations manager during his absence.
Internal Controls:
Establishes and implements processes and procedures to meet departmental internal controls requirements. Ensures that established processes/procedures are followed as designed. Works with internal controls department to identify deficiencies in existing processes/procedures the need for new ones and the extent to which such processes/procedures are being followed. Develops and implements corrective actions with regard to department internal controls as necessary.
Successful incumbents will have:
1. Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in engineering from an abet accredited university is required; BSChE preferred.
2. Ten or more years of engineering or production related experience in chemical manufacturing is required; background in ammonia urea and UAN processes preferred.
3. Five or more years of progressive supervisory/management experience is required.
4. Excellent oral written and presentation skills required. Must be able to effectively communicate and interact with personnel of all backgrounds.
5. Strong management skills required; including team building decision making and prioritizing.
6. Working knowledge of environmental health and safety regulations applicable to ammonia manufacturing required.
7. Proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
8. The ability to obtain a transportation worker identification credential (TWIC) card
9. The ability to prove drug and alcohol free at random or for cause.
