The Licensing Manager
Works with inventor(s) innovation team and other experts to determine best path to commercial translation and appropriate intellectual property (IP) strategies of inventions.
Conducts market and competitive analyses to evaluate commercial potential and identify prospective licensees.
Partners with inventors external IP experts and patent counsel to manage patent prosecution and other IP protection activities.
Drafts reviews and negotiates agreements (in coordination with legal counsel) and manages ongoing relationships with licensees and partners.
Supports startup formation when appropriate including assisting with pitch materials early-stage strategy and identifying potential management team members.
Guides inventor(s) through disclosures NDAs COI considerations prior art analyses and technology assessments.
Manages and develops a team to support commercialization activities.
Advises supports and motivates inventors throughout the commercialization process.
Represents the Innovation program at events to promote CCI and commercialization opportunities.
Serve as liaison to the Innovation & Commercialization Committee providing updates recommendations and execution support for strategic initiatives.
Education: Bachelors degree required.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of leadership licensing or equivalent healthcare experience required including technology transfer experience. Experience in commercializing intellectual property and managing technology transfer activities within healthcare or related environments. Experience with the patent process including negotiating and executing licensing and collaboration agreements.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Demonstrated project management skills. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and establish effective relationships. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Proficiency with Microsoft office. Proven experience in technology transfer intellectual property management and commercialization within a healthcare or research environment.
