The NC Department of Administration is the business manager for North Carolina state government. The department oversees Government Operations such as building construction purchasing and contracting for goods and services maintaining facilities managing state vehicles acquiring and disposing of real property and operating auxiliary services such as courier mail delivery and the sale of state and federal surplus property. Additionally the department manages many of the states advocacy programs that provide assistance and services to diverse segments of the states population that have been traditionally underserved.

Job Duties:
Internship consists of researching proposed or pending policy issues assisting with constituent services attending members committee meetings as well as senate session. Additionally the intern will assist staff in representing the Senate office to the public. Other duties are as requested by the assigned Senatorand his/her staff.
Major Task to be Performed: Overall tasks will focus on data collections research and gathering compilation of legislative issues resolves constituent issues public contact with interested parties and composing various types of writings for Senate office.
Final Product or Outcome Anticipated: Information learned daily on the functions of a legislative office. Intern learns the committee process as it relates to a bill becoming law. Intern gains communication skills by collaborating with state officials and district constituency.
Academic Majors Desired: Political Science Public Administration Communications and English
2026 State of North Carolina Internship Period: Monday May 18 Friday July 24 2026
Overall interpretations of the legislative process; researching and analytical skills; interpersonal interaction with state agencies and staff. Good composition of writing skills and computer knowledge.
This position will close at 11:59 p.m. the night before the end date.
