Job Summary

Description / Position Overview

District Crew Leader - Street Sweeper Operations
The City of Colorado Springs is ready to welcome a District Crew Leader to the Street Sweeper Operations team! As a District Crew Leader you will ill performroutine street sweeping operations for vehicle and pedestrian safety to keep our streets clean and to reduce air and water pollution by preventing trash sand salt and other pollutants from entering and plugging our storm water system. You will also provide training to equipment operators and administrative support to your immediate supervisor.


About the Street Sweeper Team:The Colorado Springs Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) Permit indicates that we must prevent or reduce storm water pollution from streets roads and highways. The street sweeping program is one way we accomplish this. Annually the city sweeps approximately 5688 lane miles of public streets and as a result disposes of over 1200 cubic yards of sediment leaves and other debris.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade (high school diploma or GED)
  • Five years of full-time professional experience in a related field including one year of supervisory experience
  • Possess and maintain a valid non-probationary Colorado Class A Commercial Drivers License not subject to restriction related to alcohol and/or drug violations or pending charges

  • Experience identifying soil types related to the construction and maintenance of paved and unpaved roadways
  • Experience which demonstrates proficiency using Cartegraph Office Mobile Service data entry and query
  • Colorado Class A Commercial Drivers License witha tanker endorsement

Supervision Exercised: This classification requires supervising and monitoring performance for a regular group of employees or department including providing input on hiring/disciplinary action and work objectives/ effectiveness performance evaluations and realigning work as needed. A first line supervisor typically performs these tasks.
