Description of Work

This Clinical Dietitian position provides on-going in-depth nutritional assessment of patients who are at increased nutritional risk and requires the development implementation and review of nutrition care plans to assure attainment and maintenance of optimal nutritional status. This position provides patient counseling with a significant amount of time devoted to those who have chronic or high-risk medical and/or psychiatric problems. The Clinical Dietician is the nutrition expert and resource person for program events that concern health and nutrition issues within the facility. They will develop all menus and detailed recipes and track inventory (to include USDA) as maintained through the food service vendor. This position will serve as the hospitals liaison regarding issues related to food preparation safety and inventory.

Per G.S. 126-5(c1) (37) this position is Exempt from all provisions of NC General Statute Chapter 126 (State Human Resources Act) with the exception of Articles 6 and 7.

This Position Is Designated As Mandatory And Must Report Or Stay Over During Adverse Weather Events.

About the Facility

The Walter B. Jones Center operates two adult inpatient treatment programs on site in Greenville NC: (1) Woodside Treatment Center and (2) Lakeside Psychiatric Hospital. The primary purpose and mission of the Walter B. Jones Center is To provide inpatient treatment psychiatric stabilization and medical detoxification for individuals with mental health substance use and other co-occurring psychiatric diagnoses for ongoing community based treatment and recovery. The Center is accredited by the Joint Commission and SAMHSA/CSAT. Two specialty programs are offered to all 100 NC Counties: (1) Inpatient Opioid Treatment for adults and (2) Inpatient Perinatal Services for women in their 1st 2nd and 3rd trimesters with substance use disorders.

    Masters degree in foods and nutrition or a related area from an appropriately accredited institution that is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) and current registration in good standing administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR); or Bachelors degree in foods and nutrition dietetics or related area from an appropriately accredited institution that is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) and current registration in good standing administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) and two years of experience in a clinical dietary setting.
