Job Summary

MW Components in Merrill WI is looking for a Set-Up Operator in our Heading/Forging/Forming department.

Summary:

Produces machined parts by operating a cold forming fastener heading machine for new special regular or experimental jobs. This is a first shift position with hours Monday-Thursday 5:00am-3:00pm.

Job Responsibilities:

Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
Set up of various machines within the cell
Operates machines as needed
Maintains a clean machine and organized work area.
Performs preventative maintenance including lubricating machines when needed
Makes minor repairs and notifies maintenance for other maintenance needs.
Performs variety of tasks such as counting cleaning returning gauges and fixtures transferring of parts
Use measuring equipment to maintain close tolerances
Follows schedules and procedures
Adaptable to cell and team concepts as well as cross-training
Sees that all safety guards are in place and in good condition
Assists other forming operators if needed
Inspects work in progress using equipment necessary and outlined in Quality or work instructions.
Responsible for quality of own work
Forklift (i. powered industrial truck) operation.
All other duties as assigned

Required Education and Experience

Must be 18 years or older.
High School Diploma/GED or equivalent
Some computer literacy required
1-3 years cold head forming experience - Knowledge of the manufacturing process
Capable of using measuring instruments i.e. micrometer calipers height gauge etc.
Capable of using hand tools (i. screwdriver wrenches etc.)
Ability to read and write perform basic arithmetic and follow verbal and written instructions.
Ability to withstand stress that may accompany deadlines or work on complicated problems for extended periods of tim

Preferred Education and Experience

Certification in the metal trades industry
3years of cold heading experience

Work Environment and Physical Demands

Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. Work involves frequent lifting of materials and product up to 30 pounds and seldom lifting to 50lbs. Frequent use of hands and fingers to handle and/or adjust equipment. Moderate reaching pushing pulling gripping and grasping. Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to safety glasses hearing protection and steel toed work boots or shoes.
