Description of Work

Black Mountain Neuro-Medical Treatment Center (BMNTC) is accepting applications for a motivated Nurse Supervisor to help lead our dynamic nursing team by providing clinical leadership and oversight in a residential facility serving individuals with intellectual developmental disabilities (IDD) and individuals with major neuro-cognitive disorders such as dementia.
The Nurse Supervisor is responsible for the coordination of quality resident care and the management of personnel within the assigned unit. This is achieved by ensuring that an adequate level of staffing is assigned to meet patient care needs and by monitoring staff performance through direct or indirect order to ensure adequate coverage the Nurse Supervisor may carry unit assignments and work flexible hours including weekends and holidays as needed.

Recruitment Range: $69027.00 - $113896.00

*A Sign-on bonus of $10000 may be offered to the successful applicant(s) of this posting contingent on the 2025-2026 Budget Approval.

Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement.

The Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)/ Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:

  • Experience planning mentoring and organizing the work of others

  • Experience as a direct supervisor of clinical staff

  • Experience in residential and/or long-term care setting

  • Experience caring for individuals with intellectual developmental disabilities (IDD) and individuals with Major Neuro-Cognitive Disorders such as dementia

This Position Is Exempt And Is EXEMPT From Certain Provisions Of The State Human Resources Act (GS 126)

This Position Is Designated As Mandatory And Must Report Or Stay Over During Adverse Weather Events.

Shift Premiums for 8-Hour Shifts:

  • Day: Saturday and Sunday 10%

  • Evening: Monday-Friday 20% Saturday and Sunday 10%

  • Night: Monday-Thursday 20% Friday-Sunday 10%

*Eligibility for Sign-on Bonus

To qualify for the Sign-on Bonus a newly hired permanent full-time or permanent part-time employee must work 30 to 40 hours per week to be eligible. Those who are eligible and working less than 40 hours a week will receive a prorated rate.


An employee is not eligible for a sign-on bonus if:

  • The employee has held a position in the North Carolina State government including the judicial system or the University of North Carolina system within the last 12 months (the employee shall remain ineligible for 12 months from the separation date)

  • The employee has previously received a sign-on bonus from any State agency

  • DHHS has paid any contract placement or recruitment fees.

ABOUT BLACK MOUNTAIN NEURO-MEDICAL TREATMENT CENTER:
Black Mountain Neuro-Medical Treatment Center is one of three state operated facilities serving adults with chronic and complex medical conditions that co-exist with neurodevelopmental or neurocognitive disorders often related to a diagnosis of severe and persistent mental illness or intellectual disability. The health and physical status of these residents require 24-hour supervision daily nursing care and assistance with activities of daily living.

Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina and two years of nursing experience.
