Description of Work

We are currently recruiting for multiple Health Care Technician II positions that will function as a Forensic Therapeutic Support Specialists at Central Regional Hospital (CRH) on the Forensic Services Unit specifically primary care unit Forensic Maximum (A0) or Forensic Medium (B0). The Forensic Services Unit (FSU) is a three sectional unit serving the Pretrial/Maximum Medium and Minimum-security needs of the court-ordered patients. FSU provides services for all counties in the entire State of North Carolina.

Salary Range: $31235.00 - $46852.00

Recruitment Range: $39312.00 - $46852.00

*A Sign-on bonus of$2500 may be offered to the successful applicant(s) of this posting contingent on the 2025-2026 Budget Approval.

Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement.

The Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)/ Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:

  • Nurse Aide I listing by the North Carolina Division of Health Service Regulation. (If applicants are not NA I certified and are selected for a position training will be offered by the hospital. However certification must be obtained and employee must pass all facility required training as a condition of employment.)
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of a certified nursing assistant (including bio-statistical data such as vital signs lab work and specimen collections)
  • Knowledge of patient interactions involving behavioral physical and medical interventions (within scope)
  • Ability to work with behaviorally difficult patients while maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment

Conditional Requirements:

  • Advanced Physical Skills (APS) certification through the Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) and CPR certification within 60 days
  • Valid drivers license

This position is designated as mandatory and must report or stay over during adverse weather events.

We will be recruiting for multiple positions with this post. Your application will be considered for all noted open positions.

Shift Premiums for 8-Hour Shifts:

  • Day: 5% weekend shift premium
  • Evening: 20% shift premium plus an additional 5% weekend shift premium
  • Night: 10% shift premium plus an additional 5% weekend shift premium
  • 50% Holiday Premium (all shifts)

*Eligibility for Sign-on Bonus

To qualify for the Sign-on Bonus a newly hired permanent full-time or permanent part-time employee must work 30 to 40 hours per week to be eligible. Those who are eligible and working less than 40 hours a week will receive a prorated rate.


An employee is not eligible for a sign-on bonus if:

  • The employee has held a position in the North Carolina State government including the judicial system or the University of North Carolina system within the last 12 months (the employee shall remain ineligible for 12 months from the separation date)
  • The employee has previously received a sign-on bonus from any State agency
  • DHHS has paid any contract placement or recruitment fees.
