Portfolio Managers work in a team environment as a key player with a commercial lending team. Portfolio Managers will be client interfacing and will work closely with assigned commercial loan officer(s) to originate and service new and renewed loans.
Primary responsibilities include underwriting monitoring and maintaining the credit quality of a designated officer(s) loan portfolio as well as managing the loan closing process. This individual may also carry and manage a portfolio of their own. This individual will be responsible for completing in-depth analysis of commercial loan requests as well as making recommendations based on such analysis allowing the Loan Officer to achieve team business development goals.

Specific duties and responsibilities:

- Portfolio managers will develop and maintain in collaboration with their assigned loan officers strong working relationships with the clients and the commercial lending team.
- Gather analyze and interpret credit collateral and financial information for existing and prospective clients.
- Identify risks determine the adequacy of collateral and recommend a loan structure (to include government guarantee programs) that best mitigates risks on new loans renewed loans or loans currently in place.
- Present findings and recommendations in a written format to be utilized as a basis for a decision. Written communication is to be thorough and to range from memos to change in terms documents to full credit presentations for new or renewed loans.
- Review loan file(s) and documents for accuracy completeness and compliance with loan approval policy and all applicable government regulations.
- Serve as the primary client point of contact for all loan servicing and portfolio management related tasks involving support staff as needed to accomplish requests. Also able to facilitate and attend meetings in the office on the phone/videoconference or at the clients place of business as needed to include prospective customers.
- Provides support to assigned loan officer(s) in the maintenance and management of their commercial portfolios. These duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Coordinate with loan assistants to manage ticklers and outstanding items within their officer(s) portfolio.
- Complete timely covenant testing and/or a formal annual loan review with the receipt of financial information and take necessary action to properly document the loan file.
- Obtain and process Compliance Certificates Borrowing Base Certificates and associated receivable payable and inventory reports as applicable.
- Complete site visits and collateral inspections as required.
- Review and prepare loan draws/ advances (to include construction loan draws).
- Understand detect and report early warning signs of problem credits.
- Monitoring of past due report for timely payments and insurance tracking report to ensure adequate insurance on bank collateral.
- Other miscellaneous tasks as required by the loan officer to support portfolio management.
- Attends department and staff meetings as requested.
- Performs special tasks projects and other duties as assigned.

Education training and experience:
- Portfolio Manager I
- 2-5 years of experience in combined credit analysis/loan assistant/and or portfolio management. May include less experience per management discretion. Handles transactions/ relationships/ with significant oversight from assigned officer(s).
- May carry and manage a small portfolio of loans with the lowest level of complexity.
- Portfolio Manager II
- 2-5 years of experience in combined credit analysis/loan assistant or equivalent plus 2 years of portfolio management experience.
- Handles transactions/relationships/portfolio with minimal oversight from assigned officer(s).
- Manages an assigned portfolio with a moderate level of complexity.
- Demonstrated financial statement analysis skills.
- Demonstrated credit/ ratio analysis skills.
- Successful completion of a high school diploma or GED.
- Excellent knowledge of office equipment essential to job performance: Calculators personal computer etc.
- Strong knowledge of computer programs: Word Excel and Internet usage. Advanced knowledge of and usage of bank core operating system & financial spreading software (CSI & CASH Suite preferred).
