Job Summary

Position Summary

The faculty member shall be responsible for the following: teaching assigned classes under the supervision of the area dean; helping students fulfill their maximum potential in mastering course content; assessing student learning outcomes; maintaining a thorough and up-to-date knowledge in their regular teaching field; continuing professional development; utilizing current technology in the performance of job duties; maintaining standards of professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the professional position; assisting with articulation and curriculum development and review; serving on college committees and participating in faculty governance including accreditation and student co-curricular activities; assuming other responsibilities as assigned by the area dean; fulfilling other duties and responsibilities of a full-time faculty member.

The Department maintains a focus on:

  • Continuous curricula improvement to maintain a strong and diverse program
  • Usage of current teaching methodologies techniques and tools particularly those employing technology
  • Active involvement in program evaluation and curriculum development
  • Community outreach to high schools
  • The development of internship and work experience opportunities
  • The incorporation of current accounting and business technology including the use of specialized software as well as the use of computer lab components for some classes
  • Collegial collaboration among faculty
  • Respect for students and facilitation of student success
  • And introducing students and the community to careers in accounting.
The curriculum consists of transfer-level vocational and upper-level courses which allow students to transfer to a four-year university obtain a job or job promotion in the workplace and pursue licensure as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Further the department teaches courses for various industry partners which can include those that are part of an apprenticeship program.

Position Salary Information:
Initial maximum salary placement is based on academic degree upper/graduate level units earned and/or related professional occupational experience per the Los Rios College Federation of Teachers Contract(the initial maximum placement is Class V Step 8).   • ACCT 311: Managerial Accounting
  • ACCT 341: Computerized Accounting
  • ACCT 343: Computer Spreadsheet Applications for Accounting
  • ACCT 361: Ethnics Fraud and Legal Issues for Accountants

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Masters in accountancy or business administration with accounting concentration ORBachelors in business with accounting emphasis or business administration with accounting emphasis or economics with an accounting emphasis ANDMasters in business business administration business education economics taxation finance or the equivalent. (NOTE: A bachelors degree in accountancy or business administration with accounting concentration with a CPA license is an alternative qualification for this discipline.) All degrees must be from an accredited institution completed by August 20 2026.
  2. Have an equity-minded focus responsiveness and sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic socioeconomic cultural disability gender identity sexual orientation and ethnic backgrounds of community college students including those with physical or learning disabilities as it relates to differences in learning styles; and successfully foster and support an inclusive educational and employment environment.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

Transcript Requirements:
  • Transcripts must be from an accredited U.S. institutions or approved foreign evaluation agency.
  • Foreign transcript evaluations must be issued by an AICE (Association of International Credential Evaluation Inc.) or NACES (National Association of Credential Evaluation Services) member agency. See the Foreign Transcript Evaluation webpage for details.
  • Transcripts mustclearly identify the degree(s) being used to meet the Minimum Qualifications.
  • If more than one degree is required to meet the Minimum Qualifications (e.g. a bachelors and a masters) transcripts for each degree must be included.
  • Transcripts must show the degree title and indicate whether each degree is completed or in progress.
  • If the degree is in progress the application must state the month and year the degree is expected to be attained.
