The NC Department of Administration is the business manager for North Carolina state government. The department oversees Government Operations such as building construction purchasing and contracting for goods and services maintaining facilities managing state vehicles acquiring and disposing of real property and operating auxiliary services such as courier mail delivery and the sale of state and federal surplus property. Additionally the department manages many of the states advocacy programs that provide assistance and services to diverse segments of the states population that have been traditionally underserved.

Job Duties: Interns will use educational programming to achieve the NC Aquarium on Roanoke Islands mission: to inspire appreciation and conservation for our aquatic environments. Programming includes discovery stations childrens programs theater programs touch pool interpretation dive presentations and outdoor programs. Interns will also assist with day events like World Oceans Day and World Sea Turtle Day. The Aquarium education team aims to incorporate conservation messaging by offering guests ways that they can help conserve nature.
Major Task to be Performed:
Intern will assist in running and maintaining hands-on activities exhibits and
educational carts in the Investigate lab. This includes daily interaction with Museum guests as well as interpreting and communicating a variety of natural science related topics. Intern will create and lead science related activities during a one-week long summer camp for middle school students. Collaborating with Museum education staff will expose the intern to different science education techniques and opportunities.
Final Product or Outcome Anticipated: Interns will be trained to conduct public education programs; give interpretive information to visitors at exhibits; staff discovery stations; monitor and interpret at the Sea Senses touch pools; and assist with other tasks as assigned. Interns will also learn how to coordinate our daily schedule record and maintain accurate program data and update our content management software.

The ability to work independently and as part of a team. Public speaking skills (or a desire to improve them) marine ecology and biology information animal handling customer service experience ability to work with diverse audience groups and coworkers. Basic computer and writing skills.
This position will close at 11:59 p.m. the night before the end date.
