Summary
Under general medical supervision byDirectorof Radiology and reporting to the Clinic Manager works independently to perform the technical and clerical duties of a general diagnostic radiology department.
Essential Job Responsibilities
Staff will provide patient care treatment and services within the scope of their license certification or registration and as required by law and regulation.
Selects proper ionizing factors for radiological diagnosis.
Adjusts and sets radiographic controls such as kilovoltage and milliamperage to prescribed specifications for proper timing of exposure; regulates the length and intensity of image capture.
Positionspatients: takes X-rays of patients chest limbs or other parts of the body as requested by physicians.
Implements infection control procedures for the work area.
Checks X-rays for clarity of image and repeats X-rays when needed.
Completes computerized charge entry daily.
Maintains required records such as patientrecordsand monthly reports.
Distributes images toappropriate medicalstaff through use of the PACS (Picture Archiving&Communication System.
Maintains quantity and quality control checks toassureX-ray unit meets standards required by laws rules and departmental policies.
Performs radiographic procedures for patients.
Cleansmaintains and makes minor adjustments to radiographic equipment including determining repairs needed to equipment.
Maintains radiographic supplies and equipment.
Administers contrast media to patients for video-fluoroscopy and other special studies.
Performs related work as assigned.
Protectspatientand other personnel from radiation hazards.
Administers contrast media to patientsaccording to policy and procedure.
Makes medical appointments with community hospitals for patients needing examinations outside of Mary Free Bed.

Essential Job Qualifications
Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
Minimum of at least twoyearshospital experience not including clinical studies.
Knowledge of the principles and practices of diagnostic radiographic procedures.
Knowledge of how diseases and injuries are diagnosed and imaged radiographically.
Knowledge of human anatomy.
Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions applicable to the work.
Previousexperience using PACS (Picture Archiving & Communication System)CR (Computed Radiology)andDR (Digital Radiology) methods of image capture.
Ability to lift and position patients for the type of X-ray procedure.
Ability to set up andoperateradiographic and fluoroscopic equipment.
Ability to cleanmaintain and make minor adjustments to equipment.
Ability to notice detail in drawings and differences in shapes and shadings.
Ability to keep andmaintainrecords.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Ability tomaintainfavorable public relations
