POSITION OVERVIEW
The Concessionaire Associate is responsible for operating concession stands during performances and events providing friendly and efficient service to audience & community members. This role involves selling food beverages and snacks handling cash and card transactions restocking inventory and maintaining a clean and welcoming concession area. The Concessionaire Associate works closely with the audience services and events teams to ensure smooth operations and a positive guest experience.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
At a minimum the Concessionaire Associate role will be responsible for successfully carrying out the following essential functions and duties:
Sales & Customer Service
- Provide excellent customer service by assisting audience & community members with food and beverage purchases.
- Accurately process transactions using cash credit and point-of-sale systems.
- Serve food and drinks in accordance with health and safety guidelines.
- Answer questions about products event details or venue services.
Inventory & Stocking
- Restock concession supplies and products before during and after
events. - Monitor inventory levels and communicate any shortages to the House
Manager. - Assist with set-up and breakdown of concession areas.
Cleanliness & Health Compliance
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the concession area throughout the event.
- Follow health and safety regulations regarding food handling sanitation and alcohol sales.
- Dispose of waste and recyclables properly ensuring a tidy and efficient workspace.
Teamwork & Event Support
- Collaborate with event staff including box office and volunteers to ensure smooth event operations.
- Assist with special tasks as needed during performances and events such as helping audience & community members with accessibility needs or answering general venue questions.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: EXPERIENCE AND OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education:
High school diploma is required.
Experience:
- Must be a minimum of 21-years-old.
- Previous experience in customer service sales or concessions is preferred.
Other Necessary Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to handle cash and operate a point-of-sale system.
- Knowledge of food handling and safety regulations (food handler certification or permit like ServSafe is a plus).
- Friendly professional and able to work well in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to partake in DCs ABC Board-approved alcohol awareness training program.
- Availability to work evenings weekends and holidays as required by event schedules.
Computer/Technology Skills:
Google Suite (Google Docs Google Sheets Gmail) or similar web applications for administrative tasks.
Physical Demands:
This position requires the ability to sit and stand for prolonged times; walk moderate distances; frequently lift/carry up to 25 lbs.; occasionally stoop bend kneel or crouch; frequently communicate verbally with others; view a computer screen for prolonged periods; and repetitive motions with wrists hands and fingers due to typing.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Our staff is diverse small lively and highly collaborative. We have frequent interactions with visiting teachers artists and students of all ages. While some of Dance Place staff currently work a hybrid schedule splitting time between our main office in Washington DC and remote work the Concessionaire Associate is an onsite position. Due to the in-person aspects of the position all employees are required to adhere to Dance Places current COVID-19 policy.
