Job Summary

Job Title: Network Engineer

Location: Eglin AFB FL - Niceville FL

Duties:

Advise and assist with network upgrades modernization and brand-new installation efforts including the evaluation and implementation of new technologies and best practices.

Provide expert guidance and support for the planning design and implementation of large-scale network projects.

Shall provide advisory and assistance support for application development planning network implementation system integration communications support computer maintenance asset management and security controls for machines integration.

Develop and maintain technical documentation including network diagrams configuration guides and troubleshooting procedures may also assist with documenting technical network requirements on projects.

Work closely with other engineering teams including cybersecurity systems administration and software development to ensure seamless integration of network solutions.

Advise and assist with the assessment of the cybersecurity and physical security posture of network infrastructure and implement security best practices to mitigate vulnerabilities.

Stay abreast of the latest network technologies and trends and make recommendations for improvements to the network infrastructure.

Requirements:

Education: Masters Degree in applicable discipline (Information Technology Computer Science Computer Engineering or IT related field).

Current certifications & must be maintained: CCIE CCNP or CCNA and Security

Experience: 10 years of professional experience in DoD/military networks as a network engineer with a focus on network architecture design and modernization demonstrating a deep knowledge and practical application. Proven capability to design develop and implement network solutions that meet the specific requirements of the Air Force and Department of War.

Experience with the unique challenges associated with standalone networks including patch management and IOS updates.

Experience in military Range networks environments applying specialized knowledge of their unique requirements.

Extensive knowledge in configuring routers switches optical transport network equipment and firewalls showcasing ability to manage and customize network devices.

Proficiently skilled in designing secure and scalable Local Area Networks (LAN)/Wide Area Networks (WAN) environments that meet the evolving needs of our organization.

Extensive experience with various dynamic routing protocols encryption protocols Virtual Routing and Forwarding (VRF) Virtual Local Area Networks (VLAN) and Access Control Lists (ACL) configurations along with IP address management and network security measures is essential.

Proven ability to implement effective monitoring and failover systems to enhance network reliability and performance.

Experience with network monitoring and management tools.

Knowledge of network virtualization and cloud technologies.

Demonstrate expertise in managing networks with diverse data transport methods including SATCOM Microwave and traditional fiber/copper infrastructure.

Experience with DoD cybersecurity processes policies principles and best practices including but not limited to Risk Management Framework (RMF) implementing DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and DoD Special Access Programs (SAP).

Network engineer experience on the Eglin 96th TW Range.

Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance and able to obtain a Top Secret clearance if needed.

Additional Notes:

  • Physical Requirements: Will be some walking as we travel to site locations some of which will be undeveloped or in construction.

  • Travel: Occasional travel will be required.

  • Work Environment: Office type work mostly but will occasionally travel from office to other site locations including new sites that have not been developed or are under construction.
