Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Salary Range: $31200 - $49340

This position is located at Avery Mitchell Correctional Institution in Spruce Pine NC Avery County. Avery Mitchell Correctional Institution is a medium custody male facility.

This position will perform a variety of administrative clerical and office support duties. This position will be required to have knowledge of the office or work unit policies and procedures in order to communicate information involving programs functions and services. Duties performed may include preparation of documents and reports composition of memos and letters the use of office technology compiling records organizing and maintaining files posting information greeting referring assisting visitors clients staff and others mail distribution and photocopying. This position will serve as the primary staff assistant to a department or program manager.

Management Preferences:

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits.

The salary grade for this position is NC02. State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as or lower than their current position. If selected for this position a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience funding availability and internal equity. Based upon these factors a pay increase MAY result.

Minimum Education and Experience

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and one year of administrative experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
