Providence Health and Services is seeking a Registered Nurse for an outpatient cardiology/cardiac surgery clinic to support pre-surgical patient visits. This is a 13-week temp-to-hire role with the expectation of permanent conversion if performance and clinic needs align. The RN will focus on patient education diagnostic review and care coordination for a fragile high-anxiety cardiac population. An active Washington RN license in hand is required.
ResponsibilitiesConduct pre-surgical nurse visits for cardiac surgery patients
Provide extensive patient teaching and education related to procedures risks and post-operative expectations
Obtain and perform 12-lead EKG/ECGs
Review and interpret laboratory and diagnostic results
Perform MRSA swabs per pre-op protocol
Coordinate care and communicate findings with surgeons and clinic schedulers
Support discharge planning and transition-of-care education
Manage outpatient clinic workflow with an approximate 1:5 patient ratio
Document all patient care accurately and timely in Epic EMR
Active Washington State RN license REQUIRED (must be in hand; pending not accepted)
Minimum 1 year RN experience REQUIRED
2 years inpatient or cardiac clinic experience preferred
Epic EMR experience REQUIRED
Willingness to convert to a permanent position after 13 weeks if offered
Reliable personal transportation required
Non-local candidates must agree to commute or relocate within range

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
At least 1 year experience as an inpatient RN or outpatient cardiac clinic RN
Preferred experience in cardiology cardiac surgery or telemetry settings
Experience caring for medically fragile high-anxiety cardiac patients
Active Washington State Registered Nurse (RN) license REQUIRED
BLS (Basic Life Support)
Outpatient cardiology and cardiac surgery clinic workflows
Pre-operative patient assessment and education
Interpretation of laboratory results
Obtain and interpret 12-lead EKG/ECG
MRSA swab collection
Discharge planning and care coordination
Epic documentation
Strong communication organization and patient-education skills
