School Lead NurseExperience with children with multiple medical/special education : 8 hours/day per diem contracted Rate: $80 per hour or $500-600 per dayReports to: Executive DirectorLocation: itinerant - supports Massachusetts/NH school districtsOverall Responsibilities (may include):Assesses special education students requiring the direct services of a nurse. Prepares heath care plans for involved students and supervises the implementation of required health care procedures. To promote the mission of the identified school district(s).Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Observe special education students on a regular basis to detect health needs. Administer medication and treatment prescribed by physicians. Conduct parent conferences and maintain liaison between physicians parents and staff. Make recommendations to primary care physician on health needs of individual students as observed within school day. Report to parents school personnel and physicians for the care of a student who has suffered an injury or emergency illness. Assume authority in the absence of a physician for the care of a student who has suffered an injury or emergency illness. Administer first aid in accordance with established first aid procedures. Implement board policy on exclusion and re-admission of students in connection with infectious and contagious diseases. Conduct training for students related to handicap health and hygiene. Assist school personnel in maintaining sanitary standards in schools. Establish emergency procedures for the CREST classroomCompletes Health Care Plans as required. Attends monthly Nursing meetings. Reports to the Nursing Coordinator regarding all medical issues . Provides medical care for children in educational setting . Completes all required trainings . Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director/SuperintendentThis lead position will also have the responsibility of overseeing other nurses. May coordinate transportation nurses and schedules. Provide training and professional development as needed on individual or large group basis.
