Position: BROADCAST IT Technician Halifax

Salary: Commensurate with experience and qualifications

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week. Overtime as required. May include working evenings and weekends.

Under the direction of the Engineering Manager this multi-talented and motivated team player will be responsible for maintenance and installation of all broadcast equipment and IT systems including but not limited to:

Responsabilities

  • Non-linear editing/playout systems
  • Ross Overdrive and broadcast automation systems
  • Video cameras production switchers routing systems etc.
  • Broadcast RF Transmission and including UHF and VHF systems
  • Graphic creation systems including applications
  • Electronic News Gathering equipment Atlas Kit Dejero cameras and accessories
  • Project management including POC design procurement and commissioning
  • Travel to remote sites as needed
  • Flexibility with schedule is required in response to emergency repair needs
  • Design installation and maintenance of IT and Production IT systems in studio and transmitter broadcast facilities (servers PCs laptops Cloud Services WAN LAN)
  • End user set up and support for IT systems
  • IP based program delivery systems
  • General building repairs and maintenance
  • Managing HVAC and electrical systems
  • Assist with winter snow removal
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Electronics Technician or IT/Computer Engineering diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution preferably specializing in Broadcast Technology
  • Minimum of 3-5 years in TV broadcast maintenance and IT systems support
  • Must understand all broadcast and production workflows
  • Ability to handle pressure meet tight deadlines and the ability to multi-task a variety of functions while maintaining a high degree of accuracy
  • Strong diagnostic and analytical troubleshooting skills
  • Strong working knowledge of computer hardware and software
  • Excellent work follow-up and organization skills with attention to detail
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • A valid drivers license with a clean driving record
  • May be required to work in restricted or close quarters
  • Ability and willingness to work outside in all climates

Adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
