The Supplier Quality Engineer will be responsible for qualifying and maintaining purchased part quality across all commodities. This person will work with suppliers Commodity/Sourcing managers responsible for the supplier relationship and other internal stakeholders to address current trending and potential high risk quality issues. The role will utilize advanced problem-solving tools to lead the implementation of corrective actions that directly impact business metrics.
The ideal candidate for an Supplier Quality Engineer would be able to do the following:
- Rapidly address purchased part quality issues that are impacting daily manufacturing operations
- Own key internal quality metrics (NCM PPM Warranty etc.) and initiate actions to drive improvement
- Lead corrective actions to address supplier quality issues collaborating with Sourcing Quality Engineering and Engineering
- Own the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) to ensure that suppliers can meet drawing requirements and maintain quality standards through the appropriate manufacturing controls
- Lead on-site supplier process assessments and quality systems audits with Commodity/Sourcing managers recommend improvements and monitor implementation of changes
- Work with Quality Assurance to develop incoming inspection requirements to identify non-conforming purchased components before they impact the production floor
- Publish weekly/monthly supplier quality metric reports (DPPM SCAR status etc.) and share with Commodity/Sourcing managers
- Comply with requirements outlined in the Alto-Shaam Quality Management System
- Serve as a Lead Internal Auditor to support Alto-Shaams ISO 9001 certification
Qualifications :
For a candidate to be successful as a Supplier Quality Engineer they must have:
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering or related field
- Minimum 5 years experience in Quality Assurance or Supplier Quality working in a manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated success with the use of corrective action quality auditing and PPAP to drive improvement
- Comprehensive knowledge of FMEA Control Plans and Statistical Process Control
- Ability to effectively communicate work with and influence all levels of an organization both internally and externally
- Robust problem solving techniques and ability to develop creative ideas and solutions
- Strong analytical organizational and planning skills. Ability to accumulate and analyze data to identify and resolve problems
- Ability to read engineering drawings and basic computer skills including Microsoft Office
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the time; frequently on short notice
