Job Description:

Supply Chain Director

Role Overview

The director is a critical position responsible for the alignment of the units SC strategy with the region/global Supply Chain strategy. The main responsibility of the role is to manage China S&OP consistently meet customer expectations and optimize supply chain performance. This individual is the primary Supply Chain liaison with the China commercial partners to ensure achievement of aligned business goals and objectives. With expertise in End-to-End Supply Chain process improvement this individual will proactively coordinate cross-functional resources required for three major areas:

Customer Focus: Work with an end-to-end and enterprise mindset to improve Supply Chain agility while increasing our ability to respond to our Customer needs in China.

Excellence in Execution: Reduce complexity and drive significant improvement in the predictable reliable supply of quality products that meet / exceed customer expectations.

Strategic Franchise Management: Work with China commercial partners and the region/global SC organization to support strategic business plans by aligning supply chain & franchise strategies and tactics to drive profitable growth.

Responsibilities

Customer Focus

  • Drive cross-functional collaboration to understand customer needs and translate external customer requirements into supply chain strategies.
  • Monitor Supply Chain Performance Goals (i.e. quality OTiF inventory MAPE/Bias) ensures initiation of corrective action and improvement projects as required.
  • Drive demand planning excellence and champion China S&OP process and meetings drive balancing demand vs. supply decisions and coordinate resolution of major supply chain issues for respective franchise.
  • Partner with China Commercial Regulatory Quality Deliver and region/global Supply Chain for continuous improvement of New Product Implementation (NPI) capability.
  • Identify and prioritize customer centric end-to-end supply chain solutions while simplifying and standardizing for impact (Fewer Bigger Better Faster).

Excellence in Execution

  • Ensure End-to-End supply chain processes are supporting customer and business needs. When / where not work with functional leads to drive improvements.
  • Improve overall end-to-end supply chain agility to increase our ability to respond to Customer needs in China. Ensures initiation of corrective actions with the functional organizations when performance varies to target.
  • Work closely with the Functional Leads (Plan Source Make Deliver Quality Regulatory Channel SC-BTL) to drive change and new ways of thinking introducing and leveraging best practices learning models and LEAN principles; all in the pursuit of end to end supply chain excellence.
  • Establish and consistently use FPX methodology to drive Execution Excellence delivering cross-functional E2E initiatives.
  • Shape and develop End-to-End supply chain management capabilities to enhance overall effectiveness and efficiency of interactions with other key supply chain functional partners to drive customer value e.g. NPIs enhance customer experience with Deliver.

Strategic Franchise Management

  • Represent the customer and serve as interface between the China Commercial and the Regional Supply Chain including a strong connection to the local / regional organizations.
  • Collaborate with China Commercial and regional SC on NPD and Lifecycle Management (LCM) to ensure efficient product life-cycle management and continuous complexity reduction.
  • Partner with China E2E SC and regional/global SC to develop and implement a product supply strategy to effectively meet market requirements (localization late stage customization SC service and lead-time improvement customer solution etc).

Critical Success Factors

  • Demonstrated depth of product knowledge and insights of customers and healthcare industry.
  • Ability to lead with limited authority and provide direction and drive positive change with end-to-end and enterprise mindset.
  • Ability to drive innovation prioritize and collaborate in a heavily matrixed environment.
  • Effective interdependent and proactive partnering with key stakeholders of China Commercial E2E Supply Chain functions and MD Supply Chain Organization on a regional and global basis.
  • Ability to coach and develop talents and elevate organizational capabilities.
  • Ability to deliver on Business unit performance metrics and shared goals in alignment with MD Supply Chain Performance Metrics.

Experience and key competencies

  • Minimum 10 years experience in a complex Supply Chain environment and a proven leadership track record in at least 2 of the following functional areas within an international organization: manufacturing planning distribution quality.
  • Experience in healthcare / regulatory dependent sector is desirable.
  • Demonstrated relevant experience in large scale projects/programs will be advantageous.
  • Demonstrated collaboration with Regulatory Quality and Deliver to meet customer expectations.

  • Creating Customer Centric Supply Chain strategies. Gaining commercial and supply chain support and alignment to deliver the strategy.
  • Leading and developing high performing cross functional and matrix teams.

Education

  • Undergraduate degree in engineering business or supply chain disciplines required.
  • Graduate degree/studies in science business engineering finance or organizational management or equivalent experience strongly preferred.
