The Institute for Research on Innovation and Science (IRIS) invites applications for a one-year with potential for renewal for up to an additional three years post-doctoral position with funding under a new 4-year R01 award from the National Library of Medicine.
IRIS is an IRB-approved data repository that collects integrates warehouses andmakes available both restricted and publicly available data on the social and economicimpact of academic research and training. IRIS is directed by Professor Jason Owen-Smith and is housed in the University of Michigans Institute for Social Research (ISR).ISR is the worlds largest academic social science survey and research organizationand conducts some of the most widely cited and influential social science research inthe field. The focus of this post-doctoral research will be research data analysis drafting andpublishing research articles and other scholarly outcomes that arise from a four-yearproject that uses temporal embeddings of large heterogeneous scientific knowledgegraphs to develop and test new measures of innovative potential. The project will alsoassess how these measures relate to multiple indicators of research impact inbiomedical research with a particular focus on Alzheimers disease mental health andsubstance use disorders.
The post-doc will be primarily responsible for data management analysis writing and dissemination (through presentation and publication) of findings derived from analysis of large scale time aware knowledge graph representations of science and technology metadata that will be designed and implemented in collaboration with Owen-Smith and other members of the IRIS team. Familiarity and demonstrated expertise with network and computational science methods science of science research creation and manipulation of large-scale knowledge graphs graph and semantic embedding techniques and/or use of high-performance computing resources in research will contribute to the strength of your application.
Salary and Benefits:
This is a one-year appointment (renewable for up to an additional three years depending on continued funding and satisfactory performance) with a $70000$75000 salary range.
