Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
- Providing tax planning advice and support for various of Chevrons domestic and international upstream downstream and midstream businesses with a primary focus on U.S. federal income taxation;
- Conduct in-depth tax research and analysis and derive conclusions in support of the companys tax positions;
- Interfacing with other functional groups within Corporate Tax (e.g. compliance audit support and indirect tax) as well as the broader Finance Treasury and Legal functions;
- Advising management and relevant stakeholders of the tax implications of proposed business transactions and activities; and
- Taking ownership of and accountability for all tax matters (whether in a direct advisory capacity or in a coordinating/facilitating capacity) impacting each of Chevrons businesses supported by the person fulfilling the position.
An extensive understanding of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code and the Treasury Regulations promulgated thereunder is a necessity as are excellent verbal and written communication skills tax research skills and the ability to work collaboratively with peers and varied groups of stakeholders.
Knowledge and experience with tax and commercial aspects of international and domestic oil and gas operations marketing and trading activities new energies partnerships and joint ventures and acquisitions and dispositions are relevant to and are desired attributes of the person fulfilling the position as is knowledge and experience with tax accounting and transfer pricing.
Required Qualifications:
- Juris doctorate
- Minimum 3 years of U.S. federal income tax research and planning experience
- Bar admission
Preferred Qualifications:
- Relocation Options: Relocation may be considered within Chevron parameters.
