Job Summary
Job Description
We are partnering with a well-established and respected provincial organization in St. Johns NL who are seeking a Staff Accountant with immediate availability to start.
The ideal candidate can quickly step into a hands-on role manage full-cycle accounting responsibilities and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities for the Job:
- Perform day-to-day accounting functions
- Key and process invoices and prepare and issue cheques
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Complete bank reconciliations
- Prepare accruals
- Support full-cycle accounting activities
- Provide payroll support as required
- Assist with payroll reporting and T4 preparation (nursing staff are paid through the organization)
Experience & Attributes for Success:
- Strong full-cycle accounting experience required
- Ability to hit the ground running with minimal supervision
- Experience using Simply Accounting (Sage); must be comfortable working independently in the system
- Payroll experience is a strong asset
- Comfortable working in a unionized environment
- Proactive detail-oriented and able to manage competing priorities
- Willingness to take initiative; training is available but independence is essential
