PRN position for our Dunwoody location for adult hearing tests only.

Days: Monday and Thursday.

Description

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Performs and interprets behavioral testing for the auditory and vestibular system.
  • Provides counseling and rehabilitative services to hearing balance and communication-impaired individuals and their families.
  • Facilitates hearing conservation.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
  • Monitors the electronic equipment for proper functioning maintains an up-to-date calibration schedule and is responsible for infection control in equipment that comes in direct contact with patients.
  • Orders office and audiology supplies.
  • Supervises students clinical interns and fellows in Audiology.
  • Maintains patient flow to and from Audiology Department in conjunction with physician appointments.
  • Maintains a schedule for patients seen in Audiology and maintains records for clinic charts.
  • Performs basic and special audiometric testing on patients of all ages including air and bone conduction testing speech and impedance testing acoustic reflex testing play audiometry COR eustachian tube dysfunction fistula testing OAEs (otoacoustic emissions) ABR (auditory brainstem response) ENG (electronystagmography) Ecog (electrocochleography) and ENOG (electroneuronography).
  • Provides hearing aid counseling fitting evaluation and troubleshooting of malfunctioning hearing aids cochlear implant management including programming of speech processors troubleshooting and counseling.
  • Manages the Tinnitus Retraining Therapy program hearing protection and cerumen management.
  • Orders purchases and bills for hearing aids.
  • Maintains current information on Audiology practice and procedures.
  • Works with manager to formulate plan for professional development.
  • Attends educational in-services as appropriate.
  • Participates in professional activities and organizations to maintain knowledge of current trends practices and developments.
  • Maintains a record of patients seen in Audiology including the dictation on patients not seen in conjunction with an Otolaryngology physician.
  • Tracks patient demographics.
  • Responsible for all Audiology billing.
  • Prepares and presents Audiology courses to students fellows and Otolaryngology residents.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of a Masters Degree in Audiology.
  • Experience not required but 2-4 years experience as a practicing Audiologist with hearing aid sales experience preferred.
  • Georgia Audiology license required.
  • Meet minimum hours required for licensure biannually for maintenance.
  • Certification by the American Speech language Hearing Association required.
  • Maintenance of membership and active involvement in local regional and national organizations pertaining to Audiology expected.
  • Computer literacy; counseling listening and patience skills.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Medium): 20-50 lbs; 0-33% of the work day (occasionally); 11-25 lbs 34-66% of the workday (frequently); 01-10 lbs 67-100% of the workday (constantly); Lifting 50 lbs max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs; Occasional to frequent standing & walking Occasional sitting Close eye work (computers typing reading writing) Physical demands may vary depending on assiged work area and work tasks.

Environmental exposures include but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure Bio-hazardous waste Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors Communicable diseases Electrical shock Floor Surfaces Hot/Cold Temperatures Indoor/Outdoor conditions Latex Lighting Patient care/handling injuries Radiation Shift work Travel may be required. Use of personal protective equipment including respirators environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
