Biomedical Scientist (12 months FTC)

Main duties and responsibilities:

• Booking in clinical samples 

• Running clinical laboratory procedures to assist the Clinical Team with improved efficiency 

• Referring clinical samples to external laboratories where relevant 

• Routine laboratory housekeeping duties 

• Monthly stock checks 

• Routine maintenance of instruments and systems 

• Maintain up to date knowledge in the relevant areas of clinical biology and recent diagnostic developments 

• Authorising clinical reports for dispatch to customers. 

• Contributing to the QMS in the form of updating and reviewing controlled documents reporting on performance of the services attending and providing training. 

• Other duties as reasonably requested with regards to the functioning of the clinical laboratory. 

Qualifications :

• BSc in Biomedical science or equivalent 

• HCPC Registered 

• Molecular diagnostics skills including PCR nucleic acid extraction and RNA handling 

• Experience of clinical diagnostics human genetics biochemistry and/or clinical microbiology 

• Previous experience of working within an accredited clinical laboratory and familiarity with quality and regulatory standards 

• Computer literate 

• Self-motivated good communication skills and a team player 

Additional Information :

Working Days: This is a 12-month fixed term contract 37.5 hours over 5 days between Monday and Saturday

Salary: Up to 32000 depending on experience
