About The Courage Project Team:

The Courage Project provides trauma informed mental health services for children under 14 years of age in North Qld (Mackay Whitsunday and Isaac Regions) who have experienced or are at risk of experiencing physical and/or sexual abuse/assault family violence and self-harm. The teams professionalism is matched by their warmth compassion and collaborative spirit. They consistently provide exceptional support to both their clients and one another.

About the Clinician role:

You will be responsible for providing counselling through face-to-face telephone and/or online sessions conducting psychological and other assessments maintaining detailed case notes and ensuring your practice is consistently of the highest standard. You will also need to compile concise and professional reports when required and attached regular supervision meetings.

This role is initially required five days per week through to the end of June 2027. That said we genuinely value work-life balance and are open to flexible arrangements whether thats fewer days adjusted hours or a schedule that works around other commitments. About You:

  • Tertiary qualifications in psychology social work or counselling.
  • A minimum of 2 years experience in providing counselling the field of trauma is preferred.
  • A sound understanding of child protection legislation relevant to service delivery and the effects of trauma on the individual family interpersonal and societal level.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills complemented by strong negotiation and mediation abilities.
  • Must have or be willing to apply for a Working with Children Check (Blue Card) and National Police Certificate.
