About the Role
The Cyber Security Services Specialist plays a critical role in safeguarding Sydney Waters digital environment. This position supports cyber security operations by proactively responding to threats managing vulnerability assessments collaborating with internal and external partners and ensuring compliance with security policies and standards. The role is essential in delivering secure customer-focused outcomes and protecting the integrity of our systems and data.
In this role you will:
- Respond and resolve cyber security incidents rapidly to minimise operational impact.
- Analyse and act on threat intelligence to proactively mitigate risks within agreed timeframes.
- Support and maintain BAU vulnerability scanning tools ensuring scans are scheduled executed and triaged effectively.
- Collaborate with security partners to ensure optimal performance of SIEM and external scanning tools.
- Deliver clear actionable cyber security metrics and dashboards to support compliance and performance tracking.
- Ensure consistent adherence to Sydney Waters security policies processes and frameworks.
- Identify and escalate risks and issues to maintain a strong security posture and service reliability.
- Work with external service providers to operate and implement day-to-day maintenance and monitoring of all security services.
- Manage a heavy workload with tight deadlines competing commitments and priorities requiring negotiation and continual re-prioritisation.
- Balance business-as-usual obligations with enablement/deployment of planned project work.
- Ensure cyber security is maintained for Sydney Waters data and services without unnecessarily inhibiting end-user experience.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in information technology Cyber Security or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 35 years of experience in cyber security operations.
- Proven experience in cyber security operations or related IT security roles.
- Strong knowledge of vulnerability management threat detection and incident response.
- Familiarity with SIEM tools (eg. QRadar) vulnerability scanning platforms (eg. Tenable) and endpoint protection solutions (eg. CarbonBlack Trend AV Defender AV).
- Working understanding of Secure Edge solutions for web filtering and site categorization.
- Understanding of security frameworks (ISO 27001:2022 NIST CIS Controls).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work collaboratively across teams.
