Job Summary

We are hiring for Radiologic Technologists in the following categories. These are contract roles with pay rates ranging from $35-$60/hour based on experience and role.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Staff/Facility

Contract Technologist shall have:

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

All modality technologists work under the general supervision of a Radiologist or other medical officers. Examinations are frequently made additionally complex due to serious illness injuries and mental or physical incapacity of the patient. The technologists may be required to devise non-standard positioning or equipment set- ups.

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

  • General Diagnostic Radiologic (X-ray) Technologist must perform General Diagnostic procedures to include fluoroscopy OR and portables. Must be familiar with Client. Must poses ARRT certification. Knowledge of Philips IntelliSpace PACS highly desirable.
  • Sonographer/Ultrasound Technologist shall perform highly complex US examinations as part of a medical team under the general direction of a supervising Radiologist. Should be familiar with Client. Must poses ARDMS certification. Knowledge of Philips IntelliSpace PACS highly desirable.

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL MODALITIES:

  • Appropriate dress odorless lab coat and/or scrubs at all times.
  • ID badge must be worn at all times above the waste while on station.
  • Maintains courteous customer service skills toward patients visitor and staff.
  • Secures patients confidence cooperation
  • Operates ionizing and/or sealed source radiation equipment
  • Calculates and maintain records of therapeutic and cumulative doses
  • Receives patients by checking name social security number or date of birth and explaining the procedures to be performed per the request and assessment.
  • Archiving and documentation of procedure and other pertinent information.
  • Image annotation evaluation labeling and image quality for optimal demonstration of anatomic region pathology and exam completeness for timely interpretation.
  • Exam protocol including patient positioning and image display.
  • Evaluation of requisition or medical record.
  • Explain and confirm patients preparation prior to radiographic/fluoroscopic or ultrasound examinations.
  • Examine radiographic requisitions and radiation oncology prescriptions to verify accuracy and completeness of information.
  • Responsible for medical equipment attached to patients during the radiographic procedures.
  • Provide for patient safety comfort and modesty.
  • Practice standard precautions; assures the cleanliness of the room and re-stocks supply cabinet at the end of the tour.
  • Select immobilization devices when indicated to prevent patients movement and/or ensure patients safety.
  • Use proper body mechanics and/or mechanical transfer devices when assisting patients.
  • Recognize need for prompt medical attention and administer emergency care.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patients information.
  • Take appropriate precautions to minimize radiation exposure to patient and staff.
  • Check equipment for working conditions prior to patients examination. Notifies the supervisor of any equipment problems.
  • Greet patients arriving in the department and may assists in scheduling appointment verifying appointment and or answering the phone and providing general information as needed or requested.
  • Calls down scheduled in-patients for examination.
  • Records the nature of and circumstances surrounding events occurring in the Radiology Service during the assigned tour and notifies the Radiologist On-Call or supervisory technologist.
  • Remains on duty until relieved by the next shift of employees.
  • Report for duty on time or call your supervisor to report absence/tardiness no later than one hour before the beginning of the tour scheduled.
  • When working without the benefit of radiologist on duty and an inappropriate examination request is received the contract technologist will contact the radiologist on-call to recommend a more appropriate examination.
  • Enters required data in the Decentralized Hospital Computer Program (DHCP).
  • Selects technical factors and appropriate protocols using established criteria.
  • Advises radiologist/nuclear medicine physician of results of examinations and notifies them of significant scans requiring their immediate attention and visualization while patient is undergoing examination and/or before the patient departs.
  • On-call could be required for all modalities and would have 15 minutes to respond to call and 60 minutes to be on-site.

General Diagnostic Radiologic (X-ray) Technologist

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Sets up x-ray room assuring that sterile supplies contrast materials catheters and other required equipment are present and Client out.
  • Assures infection control standards are followed.
  • Calls scheduled in-patients for examinations when appropriate equipment is available.
  • Provides portable x-rays throughout the medical center.
  • Quality Assurance:
  • Failure to utilize the patient identification procedures are grounds for termination

Shift / Tour of Duty (TOD):

  • Rotating shifts as needed or required including weekends and recognized holidays. Hours of shifts are typically:
  • Days: 8am to 4:30pm
  • Split: 10:30AM to 7:00PM
  • Evenings: 3:30PM to 12:00AM (Midnight)
  • Nights: 12:00AM (Midnight) to 8:00AM

Sonographer / Ultrasound (US) Technologist

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Sets up ultrasound room assuring that sterile supplies materials and other required equipment are present and Client out.
  • Assures infection control standards are followed.
  • Calls scheduled in-patients for examinations when appropriate equipment is available.
  • Provides portable ultrasound throughout the medical center.
  • Quality Assurance:
  • Failure to utilize the patient identification procedures are grounds for termination.

Shift / Tour of Duty (TOD):

  • Rotating shifts as needed or required including weekends on-call and recognized holidays. Hours of shifts are typically:
  • Days: 8:00AM to 4:30PM
  • Split: 10:30AM to 7:00PM

Computed Tomography (CT) Technologist

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Quality Assurance:
  • Failure to utilize the patient identification procedures are grounds for termination.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MR) Technologist

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Sets up MR room assuring that sterile supplies materials and other required equipment are present and Client out
  • Assures infection control standards are followed.
  • Calls scheduled in-patients for examinations when appropriate equipment is available.
  • Quality Assurance:
  • Failure to utilize the patient identification procedures are grounds for termination.

Shift / Tour of Duty (TOD):

  • Rotating shifts as needed or required including weekends on-call and recognized holidays. Hours of shifts are typically:
  • Days: 8:00AM to 4:30PM
  • Split: 10:30AM to 7:00PM
  • Evenings: 3:30PM to 12:00AM (Midnight)
  • Nights: 12:00AM (Midnight) to 8:00AM

VA HOURS OF OPERATION/SCHEDULING:

VA Business Hours: Monday through Friday 8:00AM to 4:30PM. Contractor shall provide Imaging Services during normal working hours or as needed in support of the services as described below.

  • Patients must be seen by a contract personnel(s) on-site at the facility in a timely manner in accordance with VA Rules and Regulations on clinic wait times and consult/order completion. Contractor shall notify the COR at least monthly about any obstacles to meeting this performance measure.
  • Contract personnel(s) shall be available and present in clinic during normal facility clinic hours which will be established and may be revised as deemed appropriate for patient care by the Chief of Staff. Currently normal clinic hours are Monday through Friday 8:00AM to 4:30PM.
  • Work will normally but not always be scheduled during these hours. Lunch is 30 minutes with one 15-minute break in the morning and one 15-minute break in the afternoon. Work hours may vary depending on clinical responsibilities and at the discretion of the Chief of Radiology Services or designated representative. These changes must be justified by clinical necessity and approved by the Contracting Officer prior to any changes being made.
  • The Government reserves the right to schedule or reschedule the duty hours to meet staffing and patient care needs. The Government shall provide a twenty-four (24) hour notice of any schedule changes.
  • Contract personnel(s) shall be present at the facility and shall be actually performing the required services to receive payment for services.
