The House of Commons Digital Services and Real Property is currently looking to staff the Senior Systems Technician position.
In this role you will deliver senior-level technical expertise in the support troubleshooting and resolution of complex issues related to audio/visual systems and signal distribution in support of the House of Commons and the Senate of Canada. You will work closely with internal and external partners on initiatives involving system design deployment and ongoing operations while providing technical leadership and direction to small teams. You will also review and assess operational processes procedures and lifecycle management practices for multimedia equipment identifying and recommending enhancements as required.
A key component of this role includes commissioning new products or services prior to their transition into operations. This involves validating system performance troubleshooting issues and collaborating with project teams vendors and operational stakeholders to ensure solutions meet technical standards and deliver high-quality reliable outcomes. You will also be expected to provide third-level (Tier 3) technical support for complex operational issues escalated from operations teams requiring deep technical expertise and advanced troubleshooting skills. This role demands the ability to effectively balance operational support responsibilities with the implementation and delivery of new projects and system upgrades.
As part of this position you must be available to work onsite five days per week including weekends rotating shifts early mornings daytime and evening hours and be prepared to provide on-call or overtime support on short notice.

Qualifications :
Education :
- Completion of trade school college or university degree or diploma in a field related to audio-visual production technical production media arts and technology electrical engineering electronics or an acceptable combination of education technical training and experience.
Experiences :
- Extensive experience in technical support and problem resolution across event sound broadcasting webcasting videoconferencing and simultaneous interpretation systems including defining solutions;
- Experience in the design testing and implementation of systems to meet unique client and event requirements;
- Experience in managing small to medium projects including requirements design documentation testing training implementation and leading teams;
- Experience in working with high-level clientele addressing service needs and resolving technical issues effectively.
Assets :
- Technical expertise in PA systems broadcasting webcasting videoconferencing and simultaneous interpretation equipment;
- Strong foundation in electronics and networking including routers switches IP/MAC concepts and the ability to interpret technical plans and manage cabling electrics and heat loads;
- Hands-on experience with AV system integration and programming including Crestron QSC Extron Media Matrix Evertz Televic and Bosch;
- Leadership and problem-solving skills with experience mentoring technicians operators and proposing solutions for change management.
