Role Overview

A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Westminster is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with communication and interaction needs. This role is ideal for candidates who are passionate about helping children develop communication skills confidence and independence within a mainstream primary environment.

You will be working across EYFS and Key Stage 1 supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) speech and language needs and social communication difficulties. Support will be delivered through a combination of 1:1 support small group interventions and in-class assistance.

Key Responsibilities

• Support pupils with communication and interaction needs

• Assist with speech language and social skills development

• Use visual supports and structured routines to promote engagement

• Support pupils with emotional regulation and positive behaviour

• Help pupils access learning and classroom activities

• Implement strategies from EHCPs and support plans

• Observe and record pupil progress

• Work collaboratively with teachers SENCo and therapists

The Ideal Candidate

• Experience supporting children with communication needs or Autism

• Patient nurturing and consistent approach

• Strong communication and teamwork skills

• Confidence following structured SEN strategies

• Willingness to engage in SEN and speech-and-language training

• Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive practice
