The Faculty of Engineering and Design is seeking a Technologist (Electronics) to provide expert technical services to support the teaching and research activities of the Department of Mechanical & Mechatronics Engineering staff and students.

You will be joining a 14-strong team of technical staff providing specialist support to the Department of Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering staff and students. The team is split 50/50 between the City Campus and the Newmarket Campus. We contribute technical knowledge and expertise to research and teaching activities while ensuring the ongoing operation and compliance of a vast range of laboratories research equipment and teaching facilities.

This is a full-time 37.5 hours per week role on a permanent basis. The salary range is $73400- $90700 per annum depending on qualifications and experience.

He kōrero mōu About you

We are looking for a candidate with a bachelors degree in Electronics Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering and experience in analogue electronics RF and digital circuit design and PCB design. Experience in Mechatronics and working in a tertiary environment is preferred. Additionally registration with the Electrical Workers Registration Board (EWRB) as an Electrical Appliance or Service Technician would be advantageous.

The successful applicant will be a self-motivated Engineer/Technocrat who excels both independently and as part of a team. You should ideally possess the following:

  • Knowledge of software development coding and debugging using LabVIEW and embedded C/C
  • Strong expertise in instrumentation of mechanical and electromechanical systems and data acquisition including interfacing instrumentation with computers using data acquisition software
  • Proficiency in analogue electronics RF and digital circuit design and simulation (including PCB design)
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues related to equipment computer software and infrastructure
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills
  • Ability to work proactively autonomously and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly effectively disseminate knowledge and influence multiple stakeholder groups
  • Resilience and adaptability to changing external/market demands technology and internal initiatives which may require personal or professional development
  • A strong focus on health and safety
