About the position

Reporting to the Coordinator (MAPP) the role is responsible for assisting in the delivery of technical support services across both teaching and research laboratories (where capacity allows) in Anatomy Physiology and Pharmacology.

This role assists in overseeing and maintaining the day-to-day operational functions of teaching laboratories and workspaces and provides technical support to teaching activities. It also assists by providing advice to laboratory and workspace users to ensure safety compliance and legislative requirements and procedures are followed.

This role works closely with several stakeholders including the teaching academics Infrastructure and Operations the Health Safety and Environment and Information Services teams supporting the area. It also contributes to shared services as provided by the FTS team consistent with service expectations as determined by either the Coordinator or the Senior Coordinator of Facilities and Technical Services team (Science).

It is an essential requirement to support classes as timetabled; flexibility is required for this role as some classes may start and/or finish outside the regular working hours of 8am-6pm.

Skills and Experience

To be considered for this position you will have:

• A diploma or an equivalent alternate combination of relevant knowledge training and/or experience in Anatomy Physiology and/or Laboratory Techniques.
• Experience and familiarity working with embalmed cadaveric material (or willingness to obtain) and a respectful attitude to the sensitivities and ethics of working with human cadavers.
• Experience in the maintenance of scientific teaching and/or research equipment/facilities with respect to operations maintenance and problem solving.
• Developed planning and organisation skills.
• Developed analytical and technical problem-solving capability.
• Highly developed written and oral communication skills to enable effective communication and consultation with a wide range of stakeholders.
• Ability to interpret and apply relevant and applicable policies procedures and legislation in the day-to-day performance of the functions of the position.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated customer service focus and solution orientated approach. The ability to respond to people positively confidently and with respect.
• Proficiency in computer software packages such as Word Excel Outlook and databases.
• Understanding of Health & Safety regulations and procedures and a commitment to maintaining safe laboratory practices.
