Job Summary

Nurse Practitioner Candidate

The Nurse Practitioner Candidate (NPC) is a Registered Nurse who is training and developing the expert knowledge base complex decision-making skills and clinical competencies for expanded practice under the guidance of Medical Supervisors. As an NPC at Corryong Health the scope of practice will enable advanced skills in delivering care in the acute Urgent Care Centre (UCC) inpatient environment and Residential Aged Care Facility (RACF). Moreover the extended scope of practice will enable rural generalist primary care support to people accessing the Medical Clinic and community-based services.

An NPC uses advanced comprehensive assessment techniques in screening diagnosis and treatment in accordance with evidence-based practice. NPCs are guided to initiate and interpret diagnostic tests and prescribe therapeutic interventions including in-scope pharmaceuticals. Broadly the NPC enhances health care delivery across the service system at Corryong Health to ensure Safe Timely Effective Efficient Equitable and Person-centred (STEEEP) care.


Requirements:To join our team you must:

  • A Master of Nursing Science (or equivalent) or a Bachelor of Nursing (or equivalent) with a current unrestricted registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and readiness for enrolment into the Masters of Advanced Nursing Practice requiring therefore:
  • At least one year of documented clinical experience in an acute care setting within the past five years AND
  • A Graduate Certificate Graduate Diploma or Masters degree in an area of specialty Nursing practice.
  • Ability to work autonomously efficiently and independently within a multidisciplinary team environment that demands flexibility and being adaptable to change;
  • Demonstrated commitment to systems thinking being curious and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) to ensure contemporary functions and a just culture;
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal) to ensure positive internal and external relations and demonstrated experience in partnership development with key stakeholders;
  • High level of administration and digital communication skills to enable an ability to provide care through multiple digital platforms;
  • Be a responsible leader providing support direction secondary consultation and capacity building of all care staff to ensure Safe Timely Efficient Effective Equitable Person-centred (STEEEP) care
  • Current New South Wales or Victorian Drivers Licence.
