PM Cook
Shift: Afternoon/Evening
Position Summary
Vista Medical Center is seeking a dependable and experienced Cook to join our Food Services team. This role is responsible for preparing high-quality food and bakery items for patients and the cafeteria while supporting a safe sanitary and customer-focused environment. The ideal candidate demonstrates a strong commitment to food safety teamwork and Vistas 5-Star Service standards.
Essential Responsibilities
Prepare food and bakery items for patients and cafeteria service following standardized recipes and dietary requirements
Maintain proper food temperatures labeling and dating of all prepared and stored foods
Participate in meal service including portioning foods by weight or measurement and operating hot food stations
Clean and sanitize equipment utensils and work areas in compliance with food safety standards
Assist with daily and weekly cleaning and sanitation duties
Provide courteous compassionate and professional service to patients visitors and staff
Comply with all organizational departmental and regulatory policies and procedures
Perform all duties safely and complete additional tasks as assigned
Supervision
Functional supervision may be exercised over Cook Assistants
Equipment Used
Various food preparation and kitchen equipment used on a frequent basis
Working Conditions
Exposure to chemicals hazardous materials and temperature extremes
No bloodborne pathogen exposure
Physical Demand:
Medium work level
Lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
Frequent lifting/carrying up to 25 lbs
Constant lifting up to 10 lbs
Mental Requirements
Ability to focus on details with occasional interruptions
Flexibility and ability to work effectively in an environment with changing priorities
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent
Experience:
Minimum of two (2) years of cooking experience
Certification:
Illinois Sanitation Certificate required
Patient Population Served:
All ages (neonatal through geriatric)
