Global Trade ComplianceDirectorPosition Overview
The Global Trade ComplianceDirectorwillleadthe development implementation and continuous improvement of the organizations global trade compliance program. This role combines operational leadership and strategic counsel to ensure adherence to international trade laws customs regulations and supply chain security standards. The position will collaborate across business functions and with external partners to optimize compliance and efficiency in cross-border transactions.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and oversee global trade compliance strategies policies and procedures withan initialfocus on CTPAT and First Sale programs.
Providestrategic guidance on US and international trade regulations including import/export laws tariff classification valuation country of origin and preferential trade programs.
Supportcompliance activitiesof the broader Trade Compliance team: classification licensing documentation audits risk assessments and mitigation.
Monitor regulatory changes and advise on impacts to business operations.
Develop and deliver compliance training programs.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (legal supply chain sourcing engineeringlogistics) and external partners.
Manage responses to government inquiries enforcement actions and voluntary disclosures.
Drive automation and continuous improvement initiatives.
Travel domestically and internationally as(up to 35%).
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in business international trade law or related field.
9 years progressive experience in global trade compliance including 5 years in a leadership role.
Certified Customs Broker license.
Certifications in trade compliance (e.g. Certified Global Sanctions Specialist Certified Customs Specialist) preferred.
Demonstrated experience with US and international trade controls (EAR OFAC Customs) Mexicos IMMEX USMCA C-TPAT BAA/BABA.
Strong analytical problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Excellent communication interpersonal and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
Proficient in relevant software (MS Office Suite).
High levelof emotional intelligence and independent thinking.
