Job Summary

Bloomsbury Childrens Design department are looking for a highly organised motivated person to join our team.

This supportive role is key to the smooth operation of our design department and requires a can do positive person with good time management who will work with all the designers in the team. A confident communicator who will also liaise with other teams across our childrens publishing business.

The role will report to the Creative Director Childrens & Education

The role

Predominantly an administrative position the role also requires some design work: Administrative tasks

  • Biblio admin updating schedules statuses design costs and the loading of front cover images (training provided)
  • Meeting organisation preparing agenda cover status grid and minuting of weekly cover meetings
  • Updating sales material folder with covers and spreads
  • Image supply and admin for book fair print and on-line catalogues
  • On boarding freelances
  • Drafting illustrator contracts Design tasks
  • Handling re-print requests across our childrens publishing
  • Converting final covers into audio covers
  • Converting existing book formats to paperback and board book formats
  • Creating pack shots
  • Creating holding covers

Knowledge skills and experience

  • A degree (BA or equivalent) or Higher National Diploma (HND) in a relevant subject such as graphic design publishing design illustration or equivalent professional experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft word Excel and Acrobat
  • Proficient in all creative suite programmes: InDesign Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Strong clear confident communicator
  • Practical highly organised and committed
  • Proactive helpful and time efficient

Additional information

The role is a full-time permanent position

Salary Pay Point:

This role is an entry level position with an annual salary of 27000

The role is based at our London office 50 Bedford Square London WC1B 3DP on a hybrid-working pattern of 2 days office based / 3 days home based (or fully office based if preferred). Allocated office days for this role are: Mondays and Tuesdays

This position is eligible for Bloomsburys Rental Deposit Loan Scheme. To assist candidates who want to start and to establish a career in publishing Bloomsbury offers an interest-free rental deposit to support securing somewhere to live. The rental deposit loan can be up to 3000 and will be paid back over 2 years.
